Teamwork

F1 Pit Stop/ 2007 by Andreas Gursky at the Hayward

I went to an exhibition a few months ago at the Southbank in the newly refurbished Hayward Gallery and certain images have stuck with me. That is what is so good about art and the array of cultural experiences, which surround us. They are not one off; they have an impact, can inspire, shock, ignite and often have a life beyond. Well this exhibition,  the Andreas Gursky show at the Hayward came to my mind today, as I was rushing around and feeling a little under stress. The F1 Pit Stop image summed up something very important. The importance of teamwork and revisiting this image has really made me smile. I loved the exhibition.

It closes on the 22nd April and get a ticket in advance if possible or try arriving extremely early and queuing.

I forgot my March 2018 update, but now its sunny I am catching up and recalling those important cultural and creative moments.

Being an acrobat

There is something about art or an exhibition that just hits the right chord. Something that presents exactly how you feel at the time or just makes you smile. Well my recent trip to a small gallery in Islington did just that and acrobats stopped me in my tracks.

The day I visited The Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art  was a cold and rainy day, but my visit and coffee in the café cheered me up and is a definite for a return visit.

Out of the sunshine and into something beautiful

I visited ‘The American Dream ‘pop to the present at the weekend and I am so sorry this exhibition has now closed. I would have gone earlier and shouted from the rooftops for people to see it. This exhibition included works by American artists; Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg and many more. The design and content of the show was truly inspiring, providing an insight into the production of the works alongside the art and in a space, which enabled visitors to contemplate and enjoy the experience fully.

A really good British Museum moment.

Objects,Spaces and Inspiration

Whenever I need some inspiration and today was one of those days, I search for a creative wonderland and aim for that. Today it was the Tate Modern that I went to and a free exhibition entitled ‘Between Object And Architecture’ was where I found myself. This piece by Cristina Iglesias ‘Pavilion Suspended in a Roon/2005’ drew my attention and created a space and food for thought.

Seeing the passion in Flamenco

At Sadlers Wells

I have been fortunate recently to be able to attend a variety of performances at the Sadlers Wells Theatre. A natural lover of ballet meant attending a ‘Flamenco Festival London’ performance at the Sadlers Wells Theatre, was totally out of my comfort zone. As my mantra is to learn something new every day, this was an opportunity not to be turned down.

Wow, what an experience. Israel Galván, FLA.Co.Men with musicians and singers performed for 90minutes with such passion, rhythm and skill, it took my breadth away. I felt I was being given a glimpse of Spanish life, emotions, humour and in particular their connection and love of music.   The sounds of Israel’s steps on the stage had long lasting impact.

For me Sadlers Wells has become my Tate Modern of dance and performance in London.
