These pieces by Gabriele Koch and by Björk Haraldsóttir stopped me in my tracks when visiting the London Art Fair a few weeks ago. Its warming to see such beautiful work.

February 2020 and ‘ECO-Visionaries Confronting a planet in a state of emergency’at the Royal Academy is powerful and thought provoking. I cant believe I had not heard about it earlier, but pleased to spread the message.
‘Feast For The Eyes’ The story of food in photography at the Photographers Gallery
Daniel Gordon Work. My pick is Clementines, 2011 on display at the Photographers Gallery 2019.
A stunning exhibition which is a must see for all sorts of reasons.
Well done to the creators.

Photo of Chromogenic print by Cindy Sherman on display at the National Portrait Gallery Cindy Sherman exhibition
Some images just stick with you following an exhibition and this one has with me. I originally planned to go to the BP Portrait Award 2019 but when I arrived I was struck by the Cindy Sherman poster. I took the plunge, got my ticket and went in to see the show. It was well worth the visit as so many of the photographs were impactful and emotional. This was definitely my Friday treat.
I needed a strong coffee after this show so another visit is definitely planned for the Portrait Award exhibition

Display from the ‘Olafur Eliasson In real life’ exhibition at Tate Modern
With most exhibitions its about finding something that hits the right button, the one that gets you thinking.
The last room in the Olafur Eliasson exhibition has a video running about some of his building projects. It was this video that hit the right chord for me. It was about Fjordenhus the building he designed in Denmark and was definitely worth watching.
For info: ‘The Weather project’ / the Sun in the Turbine Hall in 2003 was by Eliasson.

Vincent Van Gogh Pollard Willows at Sunset Arles March 1888. On display at Tate Britain 2019
I learnt a lot about Vincent Van Gogh in this exhibition at Tate Britain and left being reminded Not to Give up and follow your passion.
A really good summary of Van Gogh’s experience in London and the impact of Van Gogh’s art and life on British artists up to the 1950s
Dorothea Tanning exhibition at Tate Modern
After a 5 month gap I have decided to reignite and update my cultural updates. I am still a novice with the web world but having an opportunity to record the creative and inspiring opportunities out there it seems only right to spread the word.
Its wonderful how a work of art can provide that ‘feel good factor’.
A visit to the National Portrait Gallery and Tate Modern was a real treat.

Martin Parr at the National Portrait Gallery

Finding these houses was a real treat. Slightly bonkers but really thought provoking. The Cube Houses in Rotterdam designed by Dutch architect Piet Blom. When you look at them from the outside, it really is hard to believe these are living spaces. This for me is really living in Art.
A rainy and quite gloomy bank holiday weekend but all brightened up by two cultural wonders. One at the V&A , the Jameel Prize 4 exhibition and following that, a trip to the Design Museum to see the Azzedine Alaïa exhibition.
Hala Kaiksow work exhibited at the V&A ‘Jameel Prize 4’ exhibition
The Jammeel Prize is an award for contemporary art and design inspired by Islamic tradition. It is an international competition, open to artists and designers across the world. Over 250 entries were received and works by eight finalists are exhibited. The show is free and open at the V&A until 25 November 2018.
Hala Kaiksow is a fashion designer, born in Bahrain and who launched her own sustainable womenswear label in 2016.
Azzedine Alaïa designs at the Design Museum
The ‘Azzedine Alaïa the couturier ‘exhibition at the Design Museum presents fashion figure hugging sensuous beauty. Azzedine’s design and use of fabrics are inspiring. This exhibition is charged and is open until October 2018.
I am pleased to say my weekend has ended with a smile.

Ocean Liners: Speed and Style at the V&A June 2018
Ocean Liners: Speed and Style at the V&A
This exhibition was a joy. It felt like a cruise in a world of beauty. Some exhibitions are thought provoking, some shocking but this one was pure pleasure. If you ever need a pick me up, its always worth scanning the cultural sector, there will always be something there for you.
